Letter from William Pare to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Pare writes of reading with interest the coming edition of the Millennial Gazette containing the proceedings from the meeting held at St. Martin's Hall, London on the 14th of May. Pare enquires about the memorial that was to be made to the Queen.

Pare assures Owen, that despite there being no current evidence that his principles have been adopted, "his labours for the last half century have not been in vain" and that his principles are "in one shape or another receiving daily public and official recognition".

Mention is made of the forthcoming marriage of Pare's son Clement to the daughter of the late Major General Luscombe who, it is noted, had served with Wellington in Spain.
