Letter from Samuel Austin to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter opening with Atkins writing that he is pleased to hear that Owen is "producing so much good effect amongst the unions and also the more enlightened of the manufactures" as he tours round the country. Follows by explaining that he has not written previously due to having nothing important to tell, adding that he cannot supply the money that Owen asked for, despite his best efforts to raise as little as £5; Atkins has himself not been paid by the exchange and requests for money have been made by Mr Jagoe.
