Letter from John Finch to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

This manuscript letter opens with discussion of the Queenwood Community, [Tytherley, Hampshire]; Finch is glad to hear [Issac Lyon] Goldsmid has offered support in a case of prosecution by Hampshire Magistrates; shall refrain from asking Goldsmid for help directly without consulting Owen first.

Finch write of an offer made by a "friend in Bolton" to turn over to the Central Board [of the Rational Society] a house and land worth £480.

The letter closes with Finch writing that he understands [Reverend] Barker is intending to come to Liverpool in 2 to 3 weeks for the purpose of "spoiling the opening Festivals of our New Institution [Hall of Science]" - "let him come" Finch remarks, "he cannot injure us".
