Letter from J. R. Capp to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter making reference to Owen's growing acceptance of Spiritualism which had been reported in the press [via a letter from Owen]. Capp writes, that for years he has read Owen's works and has sympathised with his thoughts on faith and religion and, that being the case, he finds himself "astounded" to read in the press that Owen is giving credit to "spirit rappings". Capp requests conformation from Owen of his thoughts on the subject, as he feels there is a certain amount of "Ambiguousness" [in Owen's letter]. Discussion on Capp's thoughts on the subject follow.
