Letter from William S. Peters to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Peters again urges Owen to go to Texas and to take as many "Scotch people" as possible. Peters offers Owen the incentive of 16 acres of land for himself for every family [he gets to sign up to join the colony].

Peters writes at length of the superior way of life to be had in Texas, particularly when considered in comparison to Europe which has been "much agitated and destroyed by the late famine and present pestilence".
