Letter from Joseph Smith to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter in which Smith tells Owen about the progress of the Institution and how it is a collection of liberal minds. Smith talks about the discussion at the last meeting. This was that ceremonial worship comes from ignorance and it is impossible for men to be formed into rational beings until this type of worship stops.

Smith says that at the next meeting they will discuss whether any form of government can benefit the condition of the wealth producers. He says that he hopes Owen will soon visit and that he has sent him samples of Festival tickets.
