Letter from Samuel Morton to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Morton tells Owen he last heard him speak at the opening of the Hall of Science in Manchester [in the 1830s]. Owen is asked when he last visited Macclesfield and what was it that prompted the visit. Morton believes it was to promote the interest of the "over worked factory hands" [in the town].
