Manuscript letter, opening with Owen being congratulated on his safe arrival in Washington and wished every success for his upcoming addresses to the "leaders of nation assembled at the seat of government".

Macdaniel explains, that despite his difference in opinion with Owen in matters of "points of doctrine" he is certainly most sympathetic to all efforts at "Social Amelioration".

Further discussion concerns Macdaniel's newspaper The Phalanx, and Macdaniel's thoughts on social reform in America - he believes it must be " social and not political"
