Letter from Joseph Hansom to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter: Hansom documents a builders' strike in Birmingham. He explains that, "Messrs Walther[?], the principle builders of this town, discharged all their men...because of their being members of the Trade Union." Hansom hopes the builders will remain principled in their action; he asserts that, "a calculating mind must see that we are just at the crisis...heaven will point out to us the means of our emancipation."
