Letter from Henry Travis to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter discussion focusses on the content and printing of Owen's works. Travis notes that Mr [Frederick] Hockley regretted that the name Jesus Christ, uttered by one of the "spirits" at a séance, had made it to print. Travis is of the opinion that Owen was right not to alter the "facts" and he feels there is a good deal of "cooking" in what it published [about spiritual matters].
