Letter form Henry Brittain to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter: Brittain outlines his experience as a pupil teacher; he explains that, "brought up amongst the humbler classes, I have seen much of their method of life, but have escaped, I hope, from much of its impurity." He is "repelled" by the "trickery and deceit" of business. In Owen's "papers", he has at last discovered "the solution to the great universal social problem."
