Letter from M. Martin to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter opening with Martin thanking Owen for his letters, and for mentioning his sons live in New York [and could therefore be a useful contact when Martin emigrates to America].

Martin writes that preparations for emigration are complete and, health permitting, he and his wife intend to sail from Bristol in the coming weeks. Once in America, they will then use the introductions they have procured in New York, Philadelphia and Boston to secure jobs. Although Martin believes at first they could at first attempt to gain employment in their current profession as French teachers.
