Letter from Henry Brougham to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter: Owen's letter has been forwarded to Prince Albert; Brougham has received a "very kind and gracious reply."

Brougham writes of events in France and of the reaction to them from the propertied classes in England when he implores Owen to "impress on all who desire success to the Republic [in France] that all depends on their favour found here in England on their giving the King and Princes their property or a large part of it, and not plundering them. The cry is universal against them on this".
