Letter from Isaac Ironside to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter, in which Ironside makes clear of his contempt for Owen as he finds writing to him "distasteful". It appears that Owen has accused Ironside of being "in want of common sense and honesty and of wilfully destroying the prospects of the working classes", a claim which countered by Ironside questioning the conduct of Owen and remarking if he had indeed destroyed the prospects of the working classes with his "puny efforts", then they were not of "great character" in the first place.

It would also appear that Owen has intimated he has no wish to converse with Ironside, and further discussion is of Ironsides thoughts on this matter.
