Letter from James Lowe to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter James Lowe informs Robert Owen that a Miss Elizabeth Holt, who is a pupil at the Salford Co-operative School, will be visiting London. Miss Holt is described as being desirous of spending time with like-minded people while in London, and Lowe asks Owen if he or Mr Austin would be so kind as to introduce her to "the acquaintance she so much desires."

Lowe also relates to Owen events that took place at a festival held by the Manchester Association, including Lowe's attempts to convert a new person to Owen's principles.

Owen is asked to keep Lowe and his associates informed regarding a "Charter" being granted or applied for by any "friends"; Lowe writes that they "have a few things on the tapis [table]".
