Letter from Robert Owen to George Villiers

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter: Owen, prior to his departure to America, sends Lord Clarendon a New York newspaper [not present] that contains Owen's views on the direction governments of the "civilized world" should now be taking, acting upon the "extraordinary physical and mental discoveries of the last century."

Owen states that on his voyage he will prepare an explanation "of the practical measures" the British Government can take to enact these changes.
