Letter from Robert Owen to Professor [Samuel] Morse

Archive Unit

Scope and Content

Copy manuscript letter, in which Owen congratulates Morse on his achievements which Owen believes to be the "necessary preliminaries" in the eventual unity of the human race.

Owen informs Morse that he has sent him the latest edition of his journal, the Millennial Gazette, and explains he asked his "London Agent" Mr. [James] Rigby to call on Morse to ask after his health and discern how long he expects to remain in London; Owen wishes Morse to call on him if at all possible as a meeting between the two might be "productive of benefit of both countries [Britain and America]".
