Letter from Joseph Barker to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter: Joseph Barker thanks Owen for his 'kind letter' and promises to call on him "at my earliest convenience". He mentions A. J. Davis - "a truly honest and benevolent man...with singular and amazing powers". Barker writes that he does not know what to believe regarding "spirit manifestations". He praises Owen's "labours in the cause of truth, freedom and of social improvement" and is glad that he has lived to retract his early reproaches of Owen.
