Manuscript letter: includes extracts from a letter by Jules Gay to Pierre Baume (translated by Baume). Gay details preparations for Owen's visit. He praises Baume - "nothing is more rare than a man like you" - and regrets that he cannot accompany Owen to Paris. Baume urges Owen to "recommend that all the leaders of socialism in London should visit me." He highlights the necessity of "procuring a lawyer who is a sincere socialist," and requests that contact "Alderman Harmer" to arbitrate on his behalf.
