Letter from C. G. Allhusen to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

This manuscript letter outlines Allhusen's introduction to "Socialism and Communism" coming at the advent of the February Revolution in France of 1848. Allhusen gives his thoughts on the Revolution in considerable detail, describing it as a "revolution without a revolution".

He continues, explaining his introduction to Owen's works, before remarking that it grieves him "to see so much beauty of Communism mixed up with so much Absurdity and Spiritualism". Allhusen excuses Owen's interest of such things on account of his age, but warns him to beware of such "impostors".
