Manuscript letter: Hardie, having seen Owen give a lecture at the Lyceum Rooms in Edinburgh, asks whether Owen believes in a "first cause" of creation, which he failed to mention in his lecture. Hardie asks whether a belief in a "first cause" constitutes as one of the principles of Owen's "great plan of moral improvement."
