Letter from Reverend Edward Groves to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter. Groves has been informed that Owen is in London for a short time before returning to America. He says that he has been prevented from joining Owen at Harmony due to financial problems, however, he believes that if Owen grants him the remainder of the Hibernian Philanthropic Society funds he will be able to join him. Groves notes that the society has more or less dissolved and that he feels he has a right to be aided from this fund because of what he has lost by his involvement with that Society.

Groves goes on to say that he has not yet heard from his friend Joseph who has gone to Harmony. He also says he is disappointed by the letters he has received from his other friends at Harmony, Bell and Clibborn.
