Manuscript letter: Wright recounts to Owen the correspondence he has had with Mr C[harles] Walker from 1851 to 1854. In two notes dated 29th December for both 1851 and 1853, Wright is informed of Walker's intentions to sell the New Lanark mills and that if this should happen, his services will no longer be required. In a note dated 29 December 1854, Wright is informed that for now the mills are to be retained and so are his services and other members of his staff. He replied to this note, stating that having worked for the company for 56 years and now being 78 years old, he would be retiring on 30th March 1855.
