Letter from Henry Travis to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

This manuscript letter opens with Travis informing Owen that the Tracts have been sent to him at Oxford and will arrive there Wednesday. Unfortunately Travis cannot accept Owen's invitation to join him [in Oxford] due to "counteracting circumstances". Copies of the Tracts are also being sent to a Mr. [David] Vines [in Reading].

News of the "fuss" being generated in Reading in anticipation of Owen's arrival there pleases Travis; a number of placards advertising the latest edition of the New Moral World carrying an account of Owen's lectures there are being prepared.
