Letter from Thomas Harris to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter: Harris suggests that in order to improve society and provide better employment to the people, it would be "well to look back a little, and see what was the condition of the people of this country in days that are past and years that are over," in order to obtain information as to the "likeliest means of promoting the public good." He refers to "Fortescue" and gives a description of how the common people lived during his period, according to this person.
