Letter from Jospeh Applegarth to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter mainly regarding personal matters, including reference to previous letters not reaching Owen; therefore was disinclined to write until recently receiving a forwarding address in Dublin. Owen is thanked for the offer to be part of his "Family at Jermiston" and reference is made to Owen's beliefs of the formation of character and of the of attacks on these beliefs. Applegarth judges these attacks as useful because he feels "discussion is our best ally".
