Manuscript letter: Vines has been instructed by their "social friends" to write to Owen in order to ascertain when he will be able to visit Reading, how many lectures he is willing to give, how long he wishes to stay, and general information about the lecture(s).

He states that his wife sends Owen her regards, and informs him that they have now found a new female servant.
