Letter from M Goupy to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter informing Owen that he cannot find a job for Miss Dela Fontaine as competition is worse in France than in England. He also says he cannot find the last publications of Dr Travis and asks Owen to order him some books from America.

Goupy says that since his last letter the face of Europe has changed greatly. He feels that his Emperor [Napoleon III] wants peace but does not feel England wants the same. He notes that Paris has a valuable alliance of all Religions.
