Letter from John Finch to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Finch gives implicit details his views for the governance of the proposed community to be established at Queenwood, [Tytherley, Hampshire]; Owen shall be Governor with Finch made his Deputy; Finch will then use his influence to "convert" his whole family; they shall concentrate their means to gain a lease of an estate; Finch will appoint men to key positions within the community, such as agriculture and industry, and steam engines and machinery will be fully employed.
