Letter from Henry Travis to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Travis informs Owen that, after long deliberation, he has decided to return to "town" [London] from Burton-by-Lincoln. The decision was not easy one as there were many "attractive agencies" at work tempting him to stay, which proves that "man is not the creation of circumstances always!!!!"

The content of Robert Owen's Journal is discussed in the remainder of the letter.
