Scope and Content

Alexander Werth to W. P. Crozier.

Location: Berlin.

He leaves for Paris tomorrow. He emphasises that he thinks that he could have safely stayed on [in Berlin]. He thinks it is important to have a resident correspondent rather than a visiting one. He thinks Voigt's idea that his 'looks' are against him is absurd. His mother is English and there is some Jewish blood on his father's side. He adds that he has a first cousin in Germany who is an 'official' Nazi! He talks some more about Voigt. He says the Nazis will be in power for years and terrible though they are, we will have to deal with them. He asks if he can meet with Crozier in Manchester to discuss the future policy in relation to Germany.
