Scope and Content

Alexander Werth to W. P. Crozier.

Location: Paris.

He gives his temporary address, which is c/o The Times office. Regarding he deadline for copy, there is a problem with the censor not accepting anything prior to 5.30pm; the copy is then 'phoned through between 6 and 8pm, a process over which he has no control. They seem to have a good arrangement with the censor, who seems to be reasonable; very little has been cut out so far, apart from a few small comments and some remarks about Italy. He is going to send some articles - ideas about the war, Paris opinions, attitudes, particularly what lies beneath the surface, internal affairs, working class views on Russia. He is pleased to be back; The Times has been helpful in letting him have office space in the headquarters, the blackout is not too severe, and cars and taxis abound. He is coping with his temporary disablement.
