Newpaper cuttings relating to Sir Robert Muir's sisters

Scope and Content

Newspaper cuttings from The Weekly Scotsman and the Glasgow Herald relating to the work of Susan Muir and graduation of Jessie Muir. Susan Muir wrote mainly fictional stories for the two newspapers during the 1920s. Contains one article from The Scotsman dated 1896 that relates to the graduation in Classics of Jessie Muir. She became the first women to take a degree of MA in Classics and achieve First Class Honours at Edinburgh University. It is the only article that has been grouped with the rest of the newspaper cuttings that does not date from the 1920s. There is also an undated obituary of Jessie Thomson Muir by Margaret Drummond from George Square Chronicle --7
