Scope and Content

The Crafts Study Centre has listed together in this collection small offerings of letters, photographs and publications relating to Elizabeth Fritsch (b.1940) and her pottery, collected or produced by various admirers.

Administrative / Biographical History

Elizabeth Fritsch was born in 1940. She initially pursued a career in music, study the harp at the Birmingham School of Music and then the piano at the Royal Academy of Music 1958-1964. She took up ceramics at the Royal College of Art from 1968-1971 under the tutelage of Hans Coper and Eduardo Paolozzi, and later set up a studio in London in 1985. Fritsch had her first show in 1972, and a major retrospective of her work was held at the National Museum Cardiff in 2010.
