Capital show

Administrative / Biographical History

In February 1964, the new BBC Wales Television service opened to give Welsh viewers an alternative of 14 hours of special programmes each week, seven hours in English and seven hours in Welsh.

Every Friday evening they would air the 'Capital Show', filmed from the Astra Theatre at the RAF base in St Athan.

The programme was 45 minutes long, pre-recorded before a live audience and showcased Welsh Artists.

Stan was one of the first performers on the show, aired on the 14th February 1964.
