Scope and Content

Copy letter from Duncan stating that if the copy of Three academic pieces has not yet reached Mrs Church then it must be lost. Enclosed is a carbon copy of the letter he wrote to Mrs Church asking if she received it. With Stevens reply stating he did not reply to Duncan's former letter as he expected to see Mrs Church in New York but did not. Asks how Three academic pieces is doing. With Duncan's second letter relating that around fifty copies have been bought and paid for, although no reviews have surfaced. Gives possible reasons as Franck's modesty in binding or lack of colour in comparison to Esthetique du mal. The American Institute of Graphic Arts chose the Rilke and Blackmur books in preference to it.
