Scope and Content

Prospectus of part-time courses offered by the University of Strathclyde. Also includes details of courses offered in co-operation with the Extra-Mural Department of the University of Glasgow and courses offered as part of the University's contribution to the Scottish Business School Programme.

Administrative / Biographical History

The academic registrar was responsible for academic development planning, staff establishment and all student administration including admissions, registration, examinations, student records and statistics.

The post was discontinued in 1973 due to the growth of the University and the appointment of the then post holder to the post of registrar. The duties of the academic registrar became the responsibility of the registrar.

In 1967, the Senate appointed the Extension Studies Committee to co-ordinate the University's activities in the field of adult education. In 1978, it was replaced by the Continuing Education Committee.
