Note headed ‘1836 Mar 30. Mr Tough called and arranged what was to be done. To plant some evergreens in West Yard and Ripston pippin [‘Ribston Pippin’] against chapel wall in garden’. There follows a list of plants, some with prices, including scarlet currant 1/-, gold edged box 6d, silver edged box 6d and butcher’s broom 6d

A further note reads, ‘4 Apr. Planted shrubs in yard. Planted pippin 3 days before’

On reverse is an incomplete plan and key annotated ‘Dahlias planted 26 Apr’
