Letter from Elsie Clarke to Mary

Scope and Content

The children were pleased to receive a letter each from Mary. They enjoyed their time at Rothley Lakes with tea in the woods, sporting events and various games. During tea wasps were surrounding everyone. One child offered a penny to the first person to kill one and when it landed on Kitty's cheek, Elsie killed it. The children meet another pony before going on the lake in two boats. Mrs. Philips came over and proposed taking the two oldest to Liverpool. Elsie also reports on the each of the children's weights.
