Scope and Content

Recites that disputes have arisen between Trustees and vicars of Ledsham, Thorp Arch and Collingham over the right to appoint a bailiff of Charity estates and over the tenants and management of estates; vicars filed a case in Chancery against Trustees and on 27 June 1799 Chancellor declared that right of appointing bailiff, power of management and letting of estates and control of rents and profits of estates, rests solely with; vicars; Trustees then resigned and court appointed as Trustees Richard Green of Swillington esq., Benjamin Brooksbank of Healaugh manor esq., Samuel Wilks Waud of Killingbeck Half. esq., John Raper of Grimstone Lodge esq., and Thomas Lodington Fairfax of Lotherton esq.
