Sa-daik [Buddhist manuscript chest] and Kammavaca [Buddhist ordination manuscript]

Scope and Content

Lacquer chest containing three sets of Burmese Kammavaca or Buddhist manuscripts and wooden cover boards, the largest 14 x 61 x 4cm. The square script lacquered in the 'tamarind seed' style relates to ordination, donations, consecration of a new building or curing sickness.

Manuscript is fragile. Requests to consult the original manuscript should be emailed to and marked for the attention of the Head of Special Collections and Archives
