PAPERS COLLECTED BY BRIGADIER F.R.L. GOADBY

Scope and Content

Brigadier F.R.L. Goadby was an important figure in Oxfordshire local and family history. A brief biography of him may be found in the introduction to P2, his personal papers.

Whereas P2 consists almost entirely of notes and papers by Goadby concerning the British Legion, the history of Standlake, and the genealogy of his own family, the present collection consists of older papers which Goadby either collected himself, and deposited with the Archives, or else persuaded other people to give to him to deposit here. They mostly concern Standlake.

These papers arrived at Oxfordshire Archives in 4 instalments:

P12/1 was deposited in 1959, and given the Accession Number 345;

P12/2 was deposited in 1969 as Accession Number 811,

P12/3 in 1975 as no 1181

P12/4 in 1977 as no. 1418

Recatalogued in September 1994.
