indenture certificate between Commissioners appointed by Parliament and High Collectors appointed by the Commissioners to collect the subsidy with list of names and amounts to be paid by each individual; the indenture includes the names of the Commissioners and Collectors, date of contract and details of the Parliament and subsidy, and total amounts to be gathered; taxpayers are listed by ward [by parish in 1664], no further details except names and amounts owing; annotated with crosses by each name presumably indicating receipt/payment of moneys; the first part of the indenture was signed and sealed by both the Commissioners and High Collectors for the Lord Treasurer and Barons of the Court of Exchequer; the second part was signed by the Commissioners and retained by the High Collectors to be used for collection; some indentures have attached sheets with additional names of members of the University
