Administrative / Biographical History

Panteg Local Board of Health was created in Panteg, Monmouthshire, under the Public Health Act 1848. As a result of the Public Health Act 1872 it became an urban sanitary authority, called Panteg Local Board. The Board was responsible for various aspects of public health including sewerage, street cleaning and highways. In 1894 the Local Board was replaced by Panteg Urban District Council.
