Administrative / Biographical History
Marketing company, Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland . Incorporated on 1 March 1971 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ferguson Brothers (Port Glasgow) Ltd , shipbuilders, Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, to market Newark stern glands, propeller shaft seals, designed and manufactured by its parent company and to act as an agent for the engineering industry.
In 1975, Newark Ferguson Ltd was sold by Ferguson Brothers (Port Glasgow) Ltd to Scott Lithgow Ltd , shipbuilders, Greenock, at book value. This followed the transfer of the Newark stern gland business to Cowal Engineering Company Ltd , Greenock.
The company was nationalised as part of Scott Lithgows Ltd and British Shipbuilders in 1977 and was dissolved in 1984.
