These records compile the working papers of Don Chapman, former Oxford Mail theatre critic, for research into his book Oxford Playhouse : high and low drama in a university city, to mark the 75th anniversary of The Playhouse. There is a significant collection of early Playhouse programmes and material relating to The Oxford Theatre Guild and the Appeal concerning the Playhouse's closure in 1987.
