One section outlined and numbered 17 by FH: Dr. Polkinghorne said D.A.M.T.P. were prepared to accept the proposal to set up an Institute subject to one important proviso. It was essential that this development should not prejudice the position of theoretical astronomy in their own department where there was an important research group of six lecturers, fifteen research students, three research fellows, and other researchers with cognate interests.
