Scope and Content

The volume contains minutes of the following sub-committees: the sub-committee for superintending the education of apprentices; the garden sub-committee; the sub-committee appointed to receive tenders for apprentices' clothing and to contract for the same; the sub-committee appointed to consider the propriety of opening the garden by an exhibition of fruit; the sub-committee appointed to enquire as to the propriety of purchasing the conservatory at Bretton Hall; the sub-committee for providing additional funds for the expenditure of the coming year; the sub-committee to contract for the erection of the centre conservatory; the sub-committee for the erection of forcing-houses; the sub-committee for the revival of the rule for the distribution of plants; the committee to confer with Mr Hulis; and the committee to revise the rules of the Society. By 1849 the Garden Committee had become the Garden and Finance Committee, and later the Finance Committee.
