Show Committee Minutes

Scope and Content

This sub-class comprises the minutes of the committee which organized the Society's shows in Manchester Town Hall, from 1947 until 1972 (in 1949 the show was held in the Corn Exchange). From 1973 onwards responsibility for running the Autumn Shows was taken over by the Northern Counties Chrysanthemum Society and League, though the RBHS continued to make financial contributions towards the running costs.

Typically the minutes record the persons present, apologies, approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and matters arising, appointments of representatives to other societies and shows, and the details of the Manchester show; rules and regulations, schedules of prizes, cups, the appointment of judges and stewards. The minutes are typed onto individual sheets of paper, and there is evidence that they were formerly housed in a ring binder.
