This is an exterior photograph, taken at elevation, which shows a group of people gathered outside a row of shops, housed in a building bearing the sign "Annfield Plain Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd Beamish". Annfield Plain"s shop was removed to Beamish Open Air Museum after their merger in 1969 with Dunelm. One of the shops is a tea room, the other appears to be a Co-operative Wholesale Society store. There is a horse and cart belonging to The Newcastle Breweries Ltd outside, carrying barrels. Annotated on verso, "p12 Congress Report, 1984." Black and white.
